How SCORE helped.

In the summer of 2012, five very talented graphic artists faced the nightmare of losing their jobs, as their employer Vertis Communications was shuttering their division.  Everyone was being terminated with only the bare minimum of severance.

These five however were not inclined to take unemployment and feel sorry for themselves.  They all came to the SCORE office and decided to start their own business doing exactly what they loved doing at their previous company, making images.  The main difference of course was that they now would reap all of the benefits of their efforts if they could just hang on long enough to get it all rolling. Thus with the help of SCORE Mentors, StudioTribe was born.  As you might expect, it was difficult at first.  They had a friend who gave them free rent for the first three months in a very cramped back room.  They soon managed to get a loan to purchase equipment needed for startup and setup on temporary tables.

In its first full year of operation, the "Tribe" exceeded its projections for revenues by almost 300% and relocated to a beautiful studio in the Dallas Design District near downtown.  They are in the process of interviewing for an additional artist and the future looks promising for them.

If you've ever visited a grocery store or glanced at a magazine, there is a good chance you have seen their work. They specialize in creating graphic images for their clients which include Frito-Lay, McDonald's, 7-11, Anheuser-Busch, and AT&T to name a few.  In February of this year, they won two Gold ADDY awards for their work on Frito Lay.  The ADDY is an award given by the American Advertising Agency an industry trade group.

SCORE Dallas worked with Studio Tribe from a business start-up and continues to be a trusted advisor.

Mentors helped the Studio Tribe team with business structure, capturing current business opportunities, set-up, and all other business aspects. They had to move quickly to maintain business relationships and capture business. After the first year in business, Studio Tribe exceeded 300% of its projected revenue and continues to exceed quarterly projections.
