My career was in the government/nonprofit area, particularly serving persons and families with drug and alcohol, mental health, and intellectual disabilities. I have experience in the direct treatment area but have spent 30 years in the administration of those programs at the county level. My work as Administrator of the Blair County Mental Health/Mental Retardation/Drug and Alcohol Program required a wide range of skills and knowledge involving budgeting, contract negotiations, supervision, rate setting for services, operation of boards and councils, community involvement and all areas of the operation of nonprofit organizations.Successfully wrote and submitted local and state grants for funding of special programs and services. After retiring from the County, I worked as a Consultant assisting in the implementation of HealthChoices in PA, a healthcare organization for persons with disabilities. This involved completing all the tasks required to set up a 501(c)(3) organization, including development of business plans,setting up budgets and expense tools, rate setting, negotiating contracts, establishing boards and committees to operate the organization and general advise and counsel to clients.
